Abstract

The current research aims to examine the effectiveness of a proposed training program based on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in developing teaching skills and technological awareness among chemistry teacher students. The study used a quasi-experimental design with one group and both pre- and post-test measurements. The sample consisted of 35 fourth-year students from the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Education, Sohag University, during the first semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. The training program was designed using modern AI tools in education, including ChatGPT and PhET simulations. Research tools involved an observation checklist to assess teaching performance and a technological awareness scale, while the materials included a teacher’s guide and worksheets. Data analysis using the T-test revealed statistically significant differences at the (0.01) level between pre- and post-test scores, favoring the post-test. This confirms the effectiveness of the program. The research recommends integrating AI applications into chemistry teacher preparation programs and providing ongoing training to help future teachers keep pace with the requirements of digital and technology-enhanced education.
