Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the degree of inclusion of 21st century themes in primary science textbooks in Qatar. The descriptive analytical methodology was used, and a content analysis tool was developed to measure the availability of these themes. The study revealed a moderate inclusion of these themes in primary science textbooks, with an average availability rate of 42.8%. "Healthy literacy" and "environmental literacy" were the most prominently included themes, with average of 19.8% and 15.1%, respectively. The rest of the themes were very weakly included, and there was no inclusion of "financial, economic, business, and entrepreneurial literacy" themes. The study recommends the inclusion of these themes in the textbooks.
