Author

Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Teaching Methods for Science- Faculty of Education - Damietta University

Abstract

This study aims at developing the awareness of the dangers of different jobs and vocations among first year vocational preparatory school students. To achieve this aim, a content analysis vocational preparatory science books. The content analysis showed that science curriculum did not include any safety criteria required for vocational school students. As a result, the researcher developed a program dealing with safety issues, and an awareness scale of health and vocational dangers, that was administered pre and post the program. Statistical analysis of results showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the 0.01 level in the awareness of the research group as regards to health and vocational dangers in favor of the post administration of the awareness scale. The program was found to be effective in increasing students’ awareness of health and vocational dangers. This study recommends including vocational and safety topics in science curriculum.
