A proposed program based on the participatory learning strategy to develop some dimensions of sustainable development and the skills of the 21st century among middle school students

Abstract

The study drives at developing dimensions of sustainable development and skills of the 21st century for preparatory school students. The population consists of (36) items. The tools are:
1-    Pre/post measurement tools, which are the output of environmental education for sustainability, consisting of two dimensions: (environmental concepts-environmental citizenship) and the 21st Century Skills Scale, consisting of three dimensions: Life-skills and investment of technology-solving environmental problems-out-fund skills.
2-    Experimental tools (the proposed program using participatory learning strategy. Results are:
-        There is a statistically significant difference between average scores of the study group regarding pre/post application of the two scales, in favor of the post-application, denoting the effectiveness of the proposed program. The researcher recommends including it as an activity of science curriculum in preparatory stage to achieve the 2015/2030 strategy.
