The Effectiveness of Employing Digital Stories in Teaching Science on Developing Academic Achievement and Visual Thinking Skills for Fourth Grade Students

Abstract

     The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of employing digital stories in teaching science on the development of academic achievement and visual thinking for fourth grade students. The research sample consisted of (61) students in the fourth grade in school in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The sample divided into two groups, one experimental group of (30) students studied using the digital story method, and the other was a control group  of (31)students studied in the usual way.In order to achieve the research purpose, a teacher's guide was prepared using the digital story applied to the selected unit of the fourth-grade curriculum for the second semester; and the research tools represented in the academic achievement test and the visual thinking scale were built Results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference  at (α = 0.05) between the average scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the post-test of academic achievement in favor of the experimental group, while the results showed that there was no statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) between the average scores of the students of the experimental and control groups in the post-test of visual thinking. It was recommended to work on encouraging science teachers employing digital stories in teaching science subjects.
