A Training Program based on the Learning Assistant Model (LA) for Developing Reflective Practices and Improving Growth Mindset among STEM Students at the College of Education

Abstract

The current research aimed to develop reflective practices among second-year STEM students at the College of Education and improve growth mindset among them and STEM first-year students, through using a training program based on the Learning Assistant Model, The research group consisted of (40) male and female students from the second year STEM, and (54) students from the first year STEM at the Faculty of Education - Zagazig University, the academic year 2022-2023, The research relied on the semi-experimental design with one group, where the research tools were applied to the research group first, then the training program was presented to them, and after completion, the research tools were applied afterwards, and the growth mindset scale was applied first to the research group of the first year, and after their interview with the students of the second year, the scale was applied to them afterwards. The results indicated the superiority of the students of the research group of the second year in the post-application over the pre-application with a statistically significant difference in developing reflective practices and improving their growth mindset, and the superiority of the students of the research group of the first year in the post-application over the pre-application with a significant difference Statistically in improving their growth mindset, In the light of the research results, some educational recommendations and research suggestions were presented.
