Abstract

This research aimed to study the role of a professional development program based on the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) in the genetics unit on the teaching performance of Middle science teachers, and their knowledge of PCK domains. The research used qualitative research methods represented in the case study approach. To collect data, the research used both observation and interview tools. The sample consisted of (3) science teachers, who were selected intentionally. The results indicated that there was a positive change in teachers' knowledge on all PCK' domains, while there was no observable improvement in the context knowledge. Also, the results indicated that there was a positive change in teachers' performance in all the axes of the observation tool (understanding of scientific subject matter, inquiry educational experiences, the nature of learners, various teaching methods, the integrated relationship between science, other subject and society, a diverse and continuous evaluation, technology education, and learning sources).
