Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the McCarthy Model for teaching science in the development of inferential thinking and academic achievement among middle school students in Makkah Al-Mukarramah city, and to achieve the research objectives, the inferential thinking scale and achievement test were prepared, and a guide for the teacher and activity an brochure for the female student were prepared. the experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design based on the two independent experimental and control groups was used, where the research was applied to a random sample (59) female students of the third grade of middle school. The results of the research showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post application of the inferential thinking scale and the achievement test in favor of the post application, and the research came up with a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to pay attention to the use of the McCarthy model in teaching, and the development of inferential thinking skills among students, as it helps them solve the problems they face in their daily lives.
