Abstract

The research aimed at developing the Environmental literacy and 21st century skills of college of Education students using a suggested program in Environmental Education based on the lesson study strategy. To achieve these objectives, a suggested program in environmental education based on the lesson study strategy, three tools for measuring Environmental literacy (Environmental Knowledge Test, Environmental Skills Test, and Environmental Attitudes Scale), and observational checklist of 21st century skills were prepared. The semi-experimental design with one group and pre-post testing was used. The research group consisted of (14) students of the Bachelor of Science enrolled in a “field Education-2” course at college of Education, King Khalid University. Statistical analysis of the pre-post test scores were performed using 2 Related Samples Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results of the research revealed that there are great Effect Size of the suggested program in environmental education based on the lesson study strategy on developing Environmental literacy and 21st century skills of college of Education students. Recommendations and proposals were presented according to the study results.
