The effect of teaching a micro-teaching course using the Lesson Study strategy on developing reflective practices and self-efficacy in teaching science among faculty of education students.

Abstract

The aim of the current research was to develop reflective practices and self-efficacy in teaching science among faculty of education students through applying the lesson study strategy in the micro-teaching course, The research instruments were a reflective practices scale and a self-efficacy scale in teaching science, The research participants were (54) second year, chemistry section students, They were divided into two groups: an experimental group (N=27) and a control group (N= 27), The current research findings have revealed that there were positive and remarkable effects of applying the lesson study strategy in the micro-teaching course on developing reflective practices and self-efficacy in teaching science among students of the experimental group. Besides, the results have indicated a positive significant correlation between reflective practices and self-efficacy in science teaching among the participants of the experimental group. Accordingly, and based on the research results, some recommendations and suggestions for further research were presented.
